Comments:
Jenna came to watch our 4- and 6-year old girls at our hotel during a trip to Boston.

She did a fantastic job and I girls loved having her babysit.

We had Jenna babysit a second night during our trip and they enjoyed it just as much.

She brought with her crayons, coloring books, and games the girls could play,

which was helpful as we were traveling.

She was on time, kept us informed during the night, and was a great companion for the girls.

We would highly recommend Jenna!

In high school I spent time babysitting for family and friends, as well as coaching middle school-aged girls at a summer volleyball program. This experience was one of few that I had working with older children, and I very much enjoyed my time with them. Their maturity and independence allowed us to enjoy our experience learning team-building and problem-solving skills, as well as the game of volleyball.

In 2012 I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, and a minor degree in Psychology. Throughout my undergraduate career, I worked in many settings with children. For 3 years I was a literacy tutor for children in grades 1-3, working once per week at local libraries and schools. I also had the unique opportunity to student-teach in a preschool classroom for one year, and a Kindergarten classroom for 4 months at a lab school called the Child Study and Development Center, operated by UNH. During these times, I learned so much about how children learn and discover the world around them. At the CSDC, children learned to plant their own vegetable gardens, create art with natural products, and gain confidence by performing plays with each other.

At UNH I completed an accelerated Master’s degree program from 2012 to 2013, and graduated with a Master’s in Elementary Education. During this year, I spent 36 weeks in a first grade classroom in East Kingston, NH where, within the first month, I shared full responsibilities with the classroom teacher. It was here that I learned to support not only a child’s academic skills, but also their social and emotional development. Some of the most enjoyable times during this year were playing cooperative games, spending time in the flower gardens, and being active!  In 2013 I accepted a teaching position in Manchester, MA as a first grade teacher, and have been teaching at this school since then. Along with supporting social and emotional development in children, I am passionate about teaching young learners how to read. With your children I hope to have the opportunity to read together. My hope for the future is to continue teaching and learning each day with my awesome students!

In my free time, I enjoy spending time in the kitchen trying out any new recipe I can get my hands on – I’m a foodie! Sometimes I wish I could find a garlic-scented candle (just kidding)!! I also have become a lover of cycling class as well as yoga – polar opposites, but certainly both enjoyable. As a resident of Boston, I am a big Patriots and Bruins fan, and love going to games.

For both travelers new to Boston or busy families, I know how stressful finding the right care provider can be. Rest assured that I am punctual, organized, and well-prepared! Most of all, I love kids. I am very much looking forward to meeting you and your children. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile! I hope to hear from you soon.

Hello families! My name is Jenna and I am 28 years old. I am currently a 4th grade (recently moved from 2nd grade) teacher in Manchester, MA, and have formerly taught 1st Grade. I have also been a teaching assistant in a Kindergarten and two Preschool classrooms. For 3 summers I was a counselor and supervisor at the Lynn Special Needs Camp in Lynn, MA. My belief that children can guide their own thinking and learning through experimenting, hands-on activities, and a wide variety of life experiences is what leads me through teaching today. I feel that it is so important for children to learn about their world through active and energetic play and discovery. Fostering creativity is kind of “my thing”, and I hope to be able to play together in creative ways with your children!
