The day isn't even over, but I just wanted to reach out and say how wonderful Kamilah has been.
She's patient, sweet, intuitive and willing to meet Dona where she is.
I was expecting a full day of crying like yesterday [with another provider not from the agency],
but after a bit of adjustment in the morning (half an hour or so?) she settled in with her like her usual self.
Kamilah interacted with her, giggled, sang...
I came home from a doctor's appointment and they were sitting by the window
listening to the rain with soothing music on...
Kamilah was holding and bouncing her so gently as she slept I almost cried.

I didn't think it (not crying all day in the care of someone else/new)
was possible in this particular phase she's entered.

Thank you for sending us such wonderful caregivers both last week and this week!!
They really all were excellent.
They had great ideas, made everything fun for the kids,
anticipated what needed to be done, connected with kids who were upset (at first)
to be apart from their parents...they really all are very good at what they do!
We hope some of the same sitters will come back to us next year!

Hi, I’m Kamilah! I was born and raised in this wonderful historic city of Boston. Here, I attended Northeastern University where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in African American Studies and Sociology.
For 8 years, I've worked as a Paraprofessional Educator at the Brookline Early Education Program with children ages 2 to 5 years. Working at Brookline Early Education Program has taught me to understand the need to acquaint myself with various tasks and responsibilities, meanwhile working in a classroom with 15 children ages 2-5. My experience also consists of providing childcare to newborns, infants, and children of friends and co-workers as needed. I recently provided care as a newborn nanny for 3 consecutive months. Additionally, I babysat for countless number of families with children primarily ages newborn to 10 years.
My daily life consists of working with and having fun with children of all ages. When I am not working in early education or babysitting, I am having fun head coaching a local high school track & field team. Meanwhile, I still enjoy being active and running well after my track & field career at Northeastern University. Physical fitness has always been an important part of my life. For that, I am currently studying to be a certified personal trainer. I have goals of fitness coaching both locally and internationally towards greater levels of success. I would like to start my very own fitness business or something of the like! Until then, I will continue to seek new adventures, especially when making my routine trips to my home country of Barbados to visit many family and friends!
