Jennifer, Priscilla’s daughter, hasn’t always been involved in the business side of Boston’s Best BabySitters. She has worked as both a full-time and temporary hotel childcare provider as well as a Summer and traveling nanny. In 2005, she assumed the business related duties of the company, eventually becoming Boston’s Best BabySitters second owner and director. With the growing popularity of the Infant Care Specialist program, Jennifer has recently become more involved with the teaching aspect of Boston’s Best BabySitters. In 2011, she became a certified lactation consultant as well as a parent educator for Dr. Harvey Karp’s, Happiest Baby on the Block. She is also a certified Dunstan educator. As a result of her most recent achievements, Jennifer has written and published the infant care specialist manual used in the Infant Specialist training sessions
With a background in Social Work and as the former Director of Health and Safety Services for the American Red Cross, Priscilla, the agency’s founder, used her experience to build what is now the greatest Event, Hotel and Residential childcare agency in Boston. Establishing herself in such an industry, however, did not take place overnight. Priscilla stresses that childcare is one of the most important responsibilities that a person could ever have, and, as a result, launching her venture involved a twenty-four hour commitment, which is still in place today. Priscilla shared that, “When starting Boston’s Best BabySitters, I had to wear many hats. I had to take my professional training and apply it to the social aspect of the business, using gut-based behavioral methods as well as official procedures when recruiting and interviewing potential childcare candidates. In addition to recruiting responsibilities, I had to
‘place’ myself in actual positions, often times working seven days per week.” Working round-the-clock in order to ensure that nothing less than the best of Boston childcare is provided to her clients is standard practice for Priscilla. Together, this hands-on “fieldwork,” an innate sense of entrepreneurship and a long history of community and family oriented activities and involvements have helped Priscilla cultivate a reputation throughout the city that would ultimately lead to the success of Boston’s Best BabySitters.
